OpenAI announces the launch of the Deep Research tool on ChatGPT

13/02/2025 2 min. reading Pierre Blarre

ChatGPT is turning a new page in its history. On 2 February, the American company OpenAI, which developed the service, announced the arrival of a brand new feature called Deep Research. Inspired in particular by the Deep Search tool released a few months earlier by Bing, this feature allows Pro users of the platform to perform in-depth searches using artificial intelligence.

The Deep Research feature is coming to ChatGPT.

    Deep Research arrives on ChatGPT

This news should delight professionals in various sectors. To conduct particularly in-depth research, they will now be able to rely on one of ChatGPT’s new features called Deep Research. For meticulous and complex research that would require many hours of work, artificial intelligence claims to be able to deliver an accurate and reliable report in less than 30 minutes.

But when can users take advantage of this feature? First and foremost, it was designed to enable scientific researchers, engineers, financial analysts, and legal and political experts to fuel their research with relatively reliable reports delivered in record time. However, OpenAI does not intend to restrict the use of its Deep Research tool to certain professionals. In its latest publication, the American company states that this new feature can be useful to a wide audience and can be used, for example, to generate comparative reports in preparation for complex transactions such as buying a car.

With Deep Research, ChatGPT reaches a new milestone

As you can see, with Deep Research, ChatGPT goes much further in analysing data on the web and generating detailed reports. This advance has been made possible in particular by the use of its new OpenAI o3 model, which follows on from the previous OpenAI o1 version.

OpenAI o3 is OpenAI's new model.

Announced on 20 December 2024, this model was designed to enable artificial intelligence to perform much more advanced analyses. And it has already proven its worth. In the ARC-AGI test, which is one of the main benchmarks for evaluating the capabilities of different models, OpenAI o3 has produced impressive results, validating OpenAI’s progress towards its ideal: general artificial intelligence (GAI).

Who can use this new tool?

Deep Research has been designed to be useful to all ChatGPT platform users. However, it is not currently available to everyone. To access this new AI-based feature, users must have a Pro subscription. They will then be able to use this new service up to 100 times per month. Within a few weeks, Deep Research should also be available to Plus and Team subscribers.

Significantly enhanced accessibility could enable OpenAI to democratise the use of this new way of conducting in-depth research and analysis. Under these circumstances, increasing visibility in the results delivered by artificial intelligence tools remains more than ever a major focus of development for brands.
